Computers/iPads for Student Use

In the web class all students are assigned an individual computer that they can store documents on and log into their own profile. How beneficial would this be in an individual classroom if students had a computer for their personal use everyday?   Would you prefer to use a computer or an iPad?

Should the students be allowed to take the computers home? What drawbacks would this bring?

  1. We would have more access to the internet, so that would be beneficial. I would like to have one. I think that we should be allowed to take them home. The main drawback is the cost and someone could break/lose it.

  3. I Think Kids Should Have Their Own Computer In Class . Way More Work Would Be Done , That Way Kids Wouldn't Have To Wait For Computers Or Wait For The Computer Lab To Be Free . I Think We Should Be Able To Take The Computers Home , It Would Teach Us Some Form Of Responsibility . The Drawback Would Most Likely Be Some Kids Might Not Be Doing The Lesson And Get The Privilege Would Most Likely Be Taken Away From Everyone .

  4. I would prefer to use an IPAD , because it's more portable then a computer. Yes, I think the students should be able to take the computers home. Some disadvantages or drawbacks to this would probably distractions . People would probably be distracted by social networking websites. like FACEBOOK ((:

  5. i think that we shouldn't take the computers home until like the last day of web class as like a reward for our participation in the program, but i don't think we should take them home during the program because you don't know how bad a person's habit are so they might end up messing up the computer.I personally would prefer an iPad over a computer because i like touch screens over buttons!

  6. It would be cool if we all had our own individual computer. We could learn faster and easier, and it might even be funner to have a computer to learn with.I don't think we should be able to take the computers home because we might lose/break it.It might also break because of irresponsible little siblings that just want to touch things. So I think it's only good for school and not for home.Another drawback is that you might be distracted by all the features on the computer.

  8. -This would be beneficial because then teachers wouldn't have to just sign out computers of worry about them not being available. If students have their own computer or Ipad for their own teachers wouldn't have to worry about this. Students having their own computer would also leave the library computers free for other students. I would prefer a computer, because Ipads don't have a physical keyboard, and all they have is a notepad not pages or Microsoft. They also have more memory. Students should be able to take the computers home. Some students don't have USBs or have a computer at home to continue work on. Hopefully students wouldn't take advantage of this and mess the computers up.

  9. No Students Shouldn't Be Allowed Too Take Computers Home, Only If They Paid For It Or They Parents Paid For It.The Drawbacks For This Would Be. If The School Supplied The COmuters & The Kids Take Them Home. They Might Become Broke Or Have A Lot Of Viruses.

    1. Or maybe some of the students would begin to make up stories on why they didnt turn the computer back in. I also think that they should though because, not everybody has internet access at home.

  10. Students would be able to get on the internet whenever, instead of waiting their turn. Also, the internet has more information than in a textbook. I would prefer to use a computer because it probably wouldn't break as easily. Yes, they should be able to take them home to help with homework. The drawbacks would be the possibility of them leaving the computer at home when they go to school the next day or losing it.

  11. It would be very beneficial. I would rather use an iPad because its smaller and I can move around more with it. I think students should be able to take the computers home but at the same time I dont because some students wouldnt bring them back when its time to return them.

  14. I think this would be a good idea because people would be more organized and i would think that they would turn in more assignments. But I don't think kids should be able to take them home because some might not be careful with them and might get damaged. I personally would prefer an iPad because they would be easier to handle.

  16. I think we should all get individual computers so you can get more work done. Theres only usually like 3 computers in a class. If everyone had their own we wouldnt have to wait for some one to be done. I would prefer a computer.. But they shouldnt be able to take them home because they can get broken.

  17. I would rather use a computer because the computer has more things that an ipad may not have and since the ipad screen is touch screen you may click on the wrong thing and it might make you mad like i would be but with the computer you can use the mouse the ipad will be more than a regular computer depending on witch computer u get anything really can go wrong with any one of the things you get so you dont know really witch one is better than the other its just that the people who advertise it may say its better than the other doesnt always ,mean it is they just say that and do that to get lots of buisness so that their product will sell so they can get the profits back from which they had to pay to make and put them out on the shelves in the stores

  18. I would choose the computer over the ipad.. your ipad might easily break or anything else. Honestly if students had them for personal reasons, they could do what they want with it. The computer has more information than a textbook used two years ago. Some students that the teachers think are trustworthy should be able to take them home to study.

  19. I think students should be able to take them home, because they would maybe be more likely to do there homework or whatever. I would rather use a Ipad because its smaller and you can take it more places then you can a computer.
