We are thinking about assigning all middle school students an email address next year as an additional tool for students and teachers to use as communication method. What do you think are the benefits and possible implications that this might have? Would you email your instructor if you were provided an email address? Should it be a Gaggle address or a sd170.com address?

I think it would be a good idea . This would benefit not only the students , but the teachers as well . This would better the chances of a student having less missing assignments or getting a better understanding of a lesson taught in class . Yes , i would email my instructor if i had an email address . I think it should be a sd170.com address .

Some Drawbacks Would Be That Kids Might Get Upset About Something And Try To Make A Bad Comment . I Would Email My Instructor To See About Any Missing Assignments Or Work That I Could Do To Improve .
ReplyDeleteI think that it would help students a lot. If they needed help on a homework assignment and they weren't at school they could just send an email to their teacher asking for help. I would email my teacher if i needed help and I had a school email address. The only problem might be is that people might forget their email login, or they might share their email. Sharing their email could be dangerous because the person that is on their email could send or write inappropriate things to administrators to get the student in trouble. If you guys do decide to do this is should be Gaggle.
ReplyDeleteI think that assigning an email address to all the students would be very good . I would email my instructor if i missed a day out of school maybe they could be able to put my homework assignment on the internet. and yes it should be gaggle because even when schools out the students could still communicate with each other some type of way , but should suffer an consequence if they post any negative comments or things that shouldnt be said on a SCHOOL DISTRICT page.
ReplyDeleteI think that having a gaggle email for students is a good idea because they could be in contact with their teachers. Also if the students have question they can ask their friends and teachers. The only problem there could be is that some students might not have internet access.
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be a good form of communication. It wouldn't be a great idea though since some students might not take advantage of having one. To be honest, I probably wouldn't email them because you don't know how often they check it. The question might need an answer right away. If they do it anyways, then I think that it should be a Gaggle.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a good idea for students to have an email account because that way if a student has a question about an assignment they could ask the teacher about it. Ii think this would help more students turn in their homework. I also think that they should have gaggle accounts.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a good idea to give an email to the children.The benefits are that the teachers can tell the students their assignments.But that's the only thing I can think of that would be a benefit.The negative externalities of having an email is that the kids might use it for something not school-related and the teachers might put an important notification an it but the kids might not read it and they'll be uninformed of the news.So I say Nay.
ReplyDeleteumm i would say nay because people in our district will take advantage of it. they would use it for all the wrong reasons, if they do it they should have a strict motor on what they send. yet again i'm playing devils- advocate. i mean i would email like i do now for gaggle. it should gaggle.net !

DeleteThe benefits would be that the students would be able to easily contact their teachers and they would be able to get their assignments when they're absent or when they forget what their assignment was. On the other hand, that would take a lot of space on the server. Also, I don't think many kids would use it. However, if they did make all of the students email address, I think they should make them on an sd170.com address just because it would be easier for kids to remember.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a good idea thats how all students get to communicate with students in other schools. Also students would have the chance to communicate with their teachers and ask about any homework questions or any school activities. I just think that there would be a problem to. Many wouldnt want to sign in and ignore also it would probably be monitered by a teacher from school and wouldnt have any privacy about any conversations. If they were to give an email account it should be from gaggle because you feel more secured and itz easier to use. No one would think it would be from school or would be monitered. If it was a sd170 it would be more obvious that its being monitered. This is a great idea for students that need or want extra help. They should only give the accounts to the ones thats how the teachers know it would be useful.
ReplyDeletei think it should it would be a great idea to give the students an account to give them a chance to communicate with their teachers it give the students a chance to help them out on somethings such as if they didnt get how to do their homework they could just email their teachers and they could get extra help on the things they need to keep their grades up some students dont like to go up to the teacher during class. so if they didnt want to do that they could do ask them anytime by sending them an email. i think it should be a gaggle acount
ReplyDeleteTo tell you the truth there are many ignorant people on the internet that don't like their teachers and might post something ignorant if it don't get observed by many people. I wouldn't really talk to my instructor, and a gaggle email account really wouldn't be used by the people that don't take things seriously. So it's like 50% would use it and 49% wouldn't,not to mention thee 1% that doesn't even have internet.
ReplyDeleteI THINK THAT WILL BE A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE IF U DONT GET SOMETHING YOU CAN EMAIL A TEACHER AND ASK THE QUESTION. AND YOU CAN ASK YOUR FRIENDS. ON THE HAND PEOPLE MIGHT USE IT FOR BAD REASONS.

ReplyDeletewell i think that some benefits of actually having a school email to keep in touch with your teacher and such, are you can ask for help,(not face to face) you can also get information about whats going on in the school that you might want to be apart of. another benefit of a having a school email is that you can talk to school mates if you dont have your own email. the implications are that you might not understand the help your receiving through email, some kids wont use the email for appropriate reasons. personally i wouldnt use the email unless i really needed to.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a good idea because you would be able to see your grades and stuff. You can ask your teachers about questions you have about your homework. Then kids wont forget their homework.. Some kids might put some thing bad up there.. I think it should be a gaggle account.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think its a good idea. Idea because it will make it easier to work with computers. Having this idea also has a down side because adolescents will only want to talk on the computer than to go outside to talk or play. These externalities can cause major differences. :P
ReplyDeleteWell there are various reasons that there should or shouldn't have a email account. I think the students should have a account because if while they are at home they can just email their teacher and ask if they could explain the problem or another thing it could be useful is because if the students miss school or something they can email their teacher and get the assignment. The reason students shouldn't have a email account is because they could be doing inappropriate things with the account.
